About “katy did it” designs

JFK Vitura Cross Stitch patternThe “katy” behind the designs is...
A self-described "army brat." Katy Rankin traveled extensively with her family, and to while away the many miles from coast-to-coast (and back again), she taught herself to needlepoint, crewel, knit and cross-stitch. While working part-time at a craft store in California, Katy began her "katy did it" designing career, specializing in local color and scenery and she has been creating custom counted-cross stitch ever since. She now works out of her home studio on Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

Up-up and away...
For many years Katy competed professionally throughout the United States, Europe, and Australia in hot air balloon events. Her love of the sport is reflected in many of her designs..
"Balloons Over Sandia", The World Balloon", and "Balloons By the Sea"... just to name a few.
Upon moving to Cape Cod, Katy was asked to create a custom design for the John F. Kennedy Museum located in Hyannis. "JFK/Victura" can be found on display in the museum and kits and leaflets are available in their gift shop, or by mail-order from 'katy did it" designs.
"Bon Appetit" and "Megansett Tea Room", artwork by Cape Cod artist, Ralph Cahoon, have also been created in counted cross and can be found at the Cahoon Museum.
